"We really do enjoy our new kitchen. I had talked to other kitchen designers and they never could come up with any good ideas to solve our problems. After discussing our situation with Sandra, she really did come up with a 'Great Kitchen'."
This was a fairly new home on the water with a wonderful view. Unfortunately, the kitchen was in the back of the house with lots of windows, but no view and no light. Our goal was to open up the area to the dining room for casual entertaining and also open up the kitchen to the view and light. A real challenge! We had two walls and a hallway removed and totally changed the shape and orientation of the kitchen. The owner can now stand at the sink, see the water view, visit with her guests, and enjoy the light coming in through the front windows.
Contemporary Kitchen-Bath
"We just love our new space! The room now has so many uses and is beautiful to look at and great to work in. The little bathroom became the perfect guest bath. The glass sink is fabulous."
The kitchen in this home was a little room off in the corner with a viewless window, and the "family room" was too small for everyone. We opened up the wall between the two rooms and created one useable area that is great for entertaining. We installed two small windows in the kitchen for needed ventilation and another small window next to the tall armoire that houses the computer. We also created a little sitting area perfect for curling up and reading.

"It's a wonderful space to work in. My guest can sit at the counter and visit with me but stay out of the kitchen! Tad did a great job of keeping us appraised of the progress. That was important to us."
This kitchen had been remodeled before our client purchased the home, however, it still was narrow, inefficient, and not to our clients taste. Although we were unable to move any walls, we did remove a corner closet from an adjoining room that allowed us to put the refrigerator on an angle and removed an extra deep bay behind the sink area. This gave us the extra inches to make the room more comfortable and even allowed us to squeeze in a veggie sink next to the Sub Zero and a sitting/eating area on the island.
Modern Traditional
"My husband just loves to sit at the small table and have his morning coffee, read the paper and enjoy the view. Thank you for a great kitchen!"
The kitchen was blocked off into a corner of a great room, and the client wanted it to be open to the whole space. After the interior walls were removed the cabinetry was done in two different colors so that the island looked more like living room furniture. A small table was made to pull out of the island for breakfast or card playing.
Traditional
"We love to cook and still be part of our extended family. By opening up the space we can now do that and still enjoy the view!"
The house had a fabulous view, but the kitchen was relegated to a back corner looking at the neighbors' house. We cut back a wall to make it more open to the adjoining room, placed the sink in the front corner, changed out the windows to a useable height, created an island that provided both a work surface/veggie sink and eating area. The arches were designed to blend with the same shape that was elsewhere in the home.
Traditional Country
"I absolutely love our kitchen!! Your team did such a fantastic job. Everyone was efficient, hardworking and a pleasure to work with. Great Kitchens comes highly recommended from me. Thanks for all of your help."
This home was built in 1932 and had the classic kitchen used by the help. We enclosed the back porch to give a storage space for the pantry, and kids coats, shoes, books, and schoolbags. We also removed a wall to open up a former breakfast room to an informal eating area in the kitchen.
Tuscany
"The project proceeded as described and pretty much on budget. Thank you for a wonderful kitchen and experience. We love our new kitchen. It is especially nice to sit and eat breakfast and look out on to the snow-capped Cascades."
Small, inefficient and no ventilation perfectly described this kitchen. It was not a good place to work, and storage was extremely limited. Two windows were replaced and one added that reflected the style of the house and provided much needed ventilation. A peninsula was added for extra counter and storage space. Cabinetry was also built in under a stairwell and an eating area incorporated under the new window. The old corbels (a client find) add a touch of Tuscany to the space.
